NEC Malaysia and WMW Partner to Roll Out Internet of Things Networks in Multiple Sectors in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 28, 2023 — Leading IT and Network Technologies company, NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn Bhd (NEC Malaysia) has announced a new partnership with Belgian-based WMW to bring innovative IoT solutions to market. WMW specializes in developing fully customizable IoT data platforms and single-purpose applications for telecom operators and systems integrators worldwide. The two companies will initially focus on the Agriculture, Retail and Oil-Gas industries.

This partnership will provide support to customers facing a variety of challenges, such as reducing unnecessary water and fertilizer waste on farms, food quality control and regulation in retail outlets and supply chains, as well as personnel safety issues at oil and gas plants.

In the Agriculture sector, the companies plan to leverage precise information for automatically controlling the location and timing of irrigation through sensors tracking factors such as soil humidity and temperature, which should reduce the costs of manual labor.

In Retail, they aim to better understand shopper behaviours and increase supply chain efficiency through automatic customer counting and food temperature monitoring.

In the Oil and Gas sector, NEC and WMW will deploy solutions for monitoring the location of individuals and delivering alerts by zones in order to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
